Snuff is made of ground tobacco leaves. Taking snuff has been common practice among many of the indigenous peoples of southern Africa. Snuff bottles are personal, portable objects.
The snuff was also used as medication and mediums used the snuff to get in trance. Snuff tobacco is also seen as an important sacrifice for ancestors.
