Massim, Shell currency bracelet

Mwali arm-shells are made from a section of the Conus shell.
The Kula ring is a ceremonial exchange system in the Massim archipelago, Participants travel long distances to exchange Kula goods like necklaces and this type of shell bracelet called mwali.
The kula goods are purely traded to increase one’s social status and prestige. The goods are never long in someone’s possession and constantly change hands within the Kula circle.
